About the Event
“Air Force Day on the Hill” refers to an annual event on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Canada, organized by the Royal Canadian Air Force Association (RCAFA) and the Department of National Defence, to honor and recognize the dedication and service of the men and women, military and civilian, serving in support and as part of the Royal Canadian Air Force.
This event brings together Canada’s respected aerospace capabilities decision-makers from the ranks of three key groups: parliamentarians, aerospace industry professionals and RCAF personnel, providing an opportunity for all to gain a sound understanding of each other’s role in the security and defence of Canada for all Canadians.
The RCAF’s role in protecting Canada, providing support during natural disasters, and participating in international security efforts is top of mind for this important group of national leaders.
The event often includes speeches, displays, and other important ceremonies to help commemorate the occasion.
Purpose of Air Force Day on the Hill
Honor and Recognition: To publicly recognize and celebrate the members of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) for their courage, dedication, and sacrifices.
Public Awareness: To provide an opportunity for all Parliamentarians – House of Commons and the Senate – to learn about and show appreciation for the RCAF’s vital work, but also the incredibly important work of leaders of Canada’s aerospace industry.
Connection with the Public: To foster a connection between the RCAF and the Canadian public, as well as parliamentarians, demonstrating the significant contributions of aviators, procurement specialists and Canada’s highest levels of leadership in all three key domains.

The support of The Honorable Senator Joseph Day was paramount, and Senator Day’s commitment to this event was unwavering during the years 2007 to 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic necessarily created a three-year pause.
