
Good day my name is Walter B. Peckham, I was born and raised in NL. I worked various jobs and attended vocational school prior to joining the Cf 1979.
Upon completion of CFRS Cornwallis I was sent to CFSATE to learn the A/C metals technician trade. Upon Completion I was posted to CFB Greenwood working on the CP 140 Aurora until 1985. From there was posted to 408 Tactical Helicopter Sqn. employed on the Kiowa, Twin Huey and Chinook helicopters. In 1989 – 1992 I worked on CC130 Hercules.
From 1992 – 1994 I finished at CFB Edmonton with 440 Search and Rescue Sqn on the Twin Otter. From there I moved to Yellowknife with the Twin Otter until 1999. 1999 saw me move to ATESS at 8 Wing Trenton employed as 2 i/c in the metal shop, i/c Welding shop with a 5 year stint in between at Aircraft Structures Engineering section as liaison between Structures engineers and metal, welding, carpenter, composite, painting and upholstery shops until 2007.
2007 saw me return to 14 AMS Greenwood on IR employed in Aircraft Projects sections and as the 14 Wing Tool Control officer until 2011. I then returned to 8 Wing Trenton employed at 436 Sqn servicing and ATESS until my retirement in October 2014. During my 35 years of service I was always an active volunteer in unit, wing and community events, such as community council, MFRC both as a volunteer and Board director.
