F/O Taylor was flying Typhoon aircraft #R 879 and went missing south of Caen, France during operations. Flying Officer Pilot Taylor is buried in the Franco-British War Cemetery at St. Valery-en-Caux, near Dieppe, France.

ALVIN MANSFIELD SGT(P) R209531. From Stratford, Ontario. Killed Oct 19/44 age 20. #7 Service Flying Training School, MacLeod, Alberta. Sgts Taylor and A.E. Churcher were engaged in circuits and aerobatics when they dove into a valley three miles northwest of Brocket, Alberta. They were both killed when Harvard aircraft #FH 121 mushed into the crest of a hill when the pilot tried to recover from the dive. Sergeant Pilot Taylor is buried in Avondale Cemetery, Stratford, Ontario.

Pilot Officer Wireless Operator Air Gunner Taylor was buried at Monchen-Gladbach, exhumed, and reburied in the War Cemetery at Rheinberg, Germany.

Halifax aircraft #NP 769 was shot down two miles north of Heindenau, Germany during a night attack against Hamburg, Germany. F/Os J.C. Cunningham, A.P. Jensen, P/Os J.D. Walker, and R.A. Duncan were also killed. One Canadian, FS Smylie, was taken Prisoner of War. Flying Officer Bomb Aimer Taylor was buried at the crash site, exhumed, and reburied in the Becklingen War Cemetery at Soltau, Germany.

Whinfield, Sgt H.W. McKay, and one of the crew, not Canadian, were also killed. Hurricane aircraft #Z 1750 and Hurricane #Z 4103 were in a mid-air collision one mile south of the Kirkbridge aerodrome, Cumberland. The pilot of Z 1750 landed uninjured. Z 4103 was completely wrecked killing Sgt Taylor. Sergeant Pilot Taylor is buried in the Daiston Road Cemetery, Carlisle, Cumberland, Scotland.

Lancaster aircraft #DV 345 was homeward bound and was on fire when it crashed into a ploughed field near Sutton Bridge, Lincolnshire, England. Sgt M.G. Hudson aircraft #761 crashed and burned shortly after take-off from Torbay. Crewmen FSs Taylor, W.F. Colville and passengers F/Ls J.H. LeBlanc, R.I. Ehrlichman, Sgt M.H. Brothers, LACs N.C. Fleischman, S.E. Crymes and Cpl. C.F. Else also killed. FS Taylor had previously been in two aircraft accidents, the first on October 3, 1941 when a #11 BR Squadron Hudson caught fire and blew up on take-off at Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and the second on January 27, 1942 when a #11 BR Squadron Hudson ran out of fuel, returning from a patrol, and made a forced landing near Botwood, Newfoundland.
