RCAFA Executive Director’s Month-End Report (November 2025)

GENERAL OVERVIEW

  • November 2025 was the busiest month of the year, with major events:
    • Vimy Gala Dinner (5 Nov)
    • Remembrance Week ceremonies (4–11 Nov)
    • Annual General Meeting (24 Nov)
    • Strategic Planning Session (25 Nov)
  • These activities advanced several projects: website redesign, Air Cadet scholarships, the “24 Honorary Wing” initiative, and the National Auction project.
  • The Air Force on the Hill event was rescheduled to 5 May 2026, requiring significant coordination with sponsors and guests.

KEY PROJECTS AND INITIATIVES

Publications

  • Airforce Magazine: Next edition due 15 Dec 2025.
  • Interview with RCAF Chief Warrant Officer postponed to March 2026.
  • Advertising policy updated: free ads replaced with industry-standard rates (approved by Board).

Licensing & Finance

  • Renewal of LaBusch Skywear sub-licensing agreement targeted for Jan 2026.
  • Jim Donnelly (Assistant Finance Director) will assist in managing multiple licensing contracts.

Governance & Meetings

  • AGM (24 Nov): Hybrid format with ~45 members; draft minutes under review, finalization expected by 15 Dec 2025.
  • Strategic Planning Session (25 Nov): Covered leadership appointments, budget, magazine, communications plan, auction project, honorary wings, website redesign, and governance modernization.

Fundraising

  • National Auction Project: Committee formed under David Farnsworth; plan to be presented in early 2026.

TRUST FUND

One trustee vacancy filled by Peter Petainen; committee reviewing and modernizing its governance document (completion in 2026).

HONOURS & AWARDS

Recipients announced at AGM; full list to be posted online mid-December. Letters of congratulations to follow.

EVENTS & REPRESENTATION

  • Vimy Awards Dinner (5 Nov): Despite last-minute seating changes, event was successful, with Boeing Canada executives and RCAFA representatives attending.
  • Remembrance Week (4–11 Nov): Participation in ceremonies in Ottawa and Toronto; wreath laid at National Remembrance Day Ceremony.
  • AERE Officers Course Graduation (10 Dec): Commemorative coins to be presented; coverage planned in Airforce Magazine.

MODERNIZATION & OUTREACH

  • Website Revitalization Project: New RCAFA website expected launch 15 Dec 2025; further phases to complete by spring 2026.
  • Scholarships: Strengthened partnership with RCAF Foundation; memorandum of understanding in progress to support Air Cadet scholarships.
  • Air Cadet Medals of Achievement: Presentations planned across Canada over six months; coverage in Airforce Magazine.

BUSINESS PLANNING

  • Development of a new business plan delayed; projected delivery 1 April 2026.
  • RCAFA studying Canadian Navy Association’s model as reference.

UPCOMING PRIORITIES (DEC 2025 – JAN 2026)

  • Finalize and distribute AGM minutes.
  • Send awards letters and certificates.
  • Manage sub-licensing agreements with Jim Donnelly.
  • Continue website development and Trust Fund Committee work.
  • Advance “24 Honorary Wing” project.
  • Prepare magazine editions (Dec 2025 & Mar 2026).
  • Support National Auction planning.
  • Encourage RCAFA Wings to contribute articles/photos.
  • Partner with Polish Combatant Veterans to add names of RCAF aircrew killed in Warsaw Uprising (1944) to Ottawa’s National Memorial.
