QUANSTROM, WILLIAM F/O(BA) J26350. From Quesnel, British Columbia. Killed in Action Apr 10/44 age 27. #12 Squadron (Leads The Field). Lancaster aircraft #JB 09 failed to return from a night mine- laying operation. F/O G. Robinson was also killed. Five of the crew, not Canadians, missing believed killed. Flying Officer Bomb Aimer Quanstrom has no known grave, his name is inscribed on the Runnymede War Memorial, Englefield Green, Surrey, England.

QUANTRILL, ELWIN STANBURY F/O(P) J26480//R161264. From Campbellcroft, Ontario. Killed May 16/44 age 22. #12 Service Flying Training School, Brandon, Manitoba. Cessna Crane aircraft #8162 was engaged in a bombing exercise when it was in a mid-air collision with Cessna Crane aircraft #7905. F/O Quantrill and LAC D.G. Barnes were the only casualties and were killed when aircraft #81 62 crashed and burned three miles west and one half mile south of the aerodrome at Brandon. Flying Officer Pilot Quantrill is buried in the Union Cemetery at Port Hope, Ontario.

QUEEN, HAROLD ALLEN SGT(AG) F198092. From Windsor, Ontario. Killed in Action Aug 31/43 age 20. #207 Squadron (Semper Paratus). Lancaster aircraft #W 4120 was shot down at Eindhoven, Holland. One Canadian, Sgt Scott, was taken Prisoner of War. One of the crew, not Canadian, was also killed and three of the crew, not Canadians, missing believed killed. Sergeant Air Gunner Queen was buried at Eindhoven, exhumed, and reburied in the Nijmegen Canadian Cemetery, Holland.

Halifax aircraft #LK 920 missing during a night operation against Frankfurt, Germany. FS J.E. Paquet, WOs E.C. Champion, J.L. Perrin, FS R. Ranger, Sgt P.J. King (RAF), and one other crew member, not Canadian, were also killed. Sergeant Air Gunner Quenet was buried in the Florennes Juzaine Cemetery, Belgium, exhumed, and reburied in the War Cemetery, Hatton, Luxenbourg, Belgium.

QUEVILLON, RAOUL P/O(AG) J17768//R69003. From Kirkland Lake, Ontario. Killed in Action Jun 13/43 age 24. #102 Ceylon Squadron (Tentate Et Perficite). Halifax aircraft #JB 868 missing, presumed over target, presumed enemy action. Six of the crew, not Canadians, missing believed killed. Pilot Officer Air Gunner Quevillon has no known grave, his name is inscribed on the Runnymede War Memorial, Englefield Green, Egham, Surrey, England.

QUICK, JOHN ASKEY P/O(P) J4108. From Squamish, British Columbia. Killed Aug 6/41 age 24. #77 Squadron (Esse Potius Quam Videri). P/O Quick was killed when Whitley aircraft #Z 6740 crashed at Alverston, Warwickshire. Pilot Officer Pilot Quick is buried in the Stratford-On-Avon Cemetery, Evesham Road, Warwickshire, England. Addendum: – The squadron was based at Topcliffe when the Whitley crashed. P/Os A.W. Ogston (RAF), A.W. Tomlinson (RAF), Sgts H.J. MacLean (RAF), and H.J. Gibbs (RAF) were also killed. Stirling aircraft #EF 191 did not return from a night mine-laying operation at Kattegat, Norway. Six RAF crew members, Sgts J.L. Blackwood, E. Draper, J.H. Flack, H.E. Steele, R.G. Whitrnarsh, and WO D.J. Nixon were also killed. Flight Sergeant Bomb Aimer Quickf all is buried in the Fourfelt Cemetery, Esbjerg, Jutland, Denmark.

Hampden aircraft #P 1200 missing during a navigation exercise. P/O W.R. Dishman (RAF) and Sgt R.F. Watson (RAF) were also killed. Sergeant Wireless Operator Air Gunner Quigley has no known grave, his name is inscribed on the Ottawa War Memorial, Ottawa, Ontario.

Lancaster aircraft #PA 189 was shot down at Questenburg, Germany, during a night operation against Zeitz, Germany. FS R.C. Roller, F/O W.M. Chapman, P/Os M.S. McMaster, and J.D. Gibbons were also killed. Two of the crew, not Canadians, missing believed killed. Flight Lieutenant Pilot Quigley was buried at Questenburg, exhumed, and reburied in the Berlin War Cemetery, Charlottenburg, Germany.

Blenheim aircraft failed to return from operations. Two crew members, not Canadians, missing believed killed. Sergeant Pilot Qui[ter has no known grave, his name is inscribed on the Alamein War Memorial, Egypt.

QUINLAN, DENNIS JOHN F/O(013) J6130. From Calgary, Alberta. Killed in Action Aug 17/42 age 22. #207 Squadron (Semper Paratus). Lancaster aircraft lost. Please see FS J.A. QUINLAN, JEREMIAH WREN LAC(N) R156040 – under training. From Toronto, Ontario. Killed Nov 7/42 age 24. #4 Air Observer School, London, Ontario. The crew of Anson aircraft #6341 were on a night navigation exercise when they crashed on November 3, 1942 in a swamp four miles south-east of Dorchester Station, Ontario. P/O F.A. Griffin, LAC S. Acker, and the civilian pilot G.H. Rockett were all killed in the crash. LAC Quinlan died of his injuries while in hospital. Leading AirCraftman Navigator Quinlan is buried in St. John’s Norway Cemetery, Toronto, Ontario.

QUINLAN, JOHN ARCHIBALD ANTHONY LAC(P) R68547 – under training. From Toronto, Ontario. Killed Jan 30/41 age 19. #4 Service Flying Training School, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. LAC Quinlan was killed when he walked into a slowly moving aircraft on the taxi strip at Saskatoon. Leading AirCraftman Pilot Quinlan is buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery, North Bay, Ontario.

QUINLAN, JOHN MICHAEL P/O(P) J85433//R146987. From Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Killed in Action Mar 4/44 age 20. #36 Squadron (Rajawali Raja Langit). The crew of Wellington aircraft #HF 296 were flying in bad weather and was returning to base from a convoy patrol when they crashed outside of Blida, Algiers near Joinville. Five members of the crew, not Canadians, were also killed. Pilot Officer Pilot Quinlan is buried in the Defy Ibrahim War Cemetery, Algiers.

QUINLAN, VERNON BEVERLY SGT(WAG) R58012. From Edmonton, Alberta. Killed in Action Aug 7/41 age 21. #149 East India Squadron (Fortis Nocte). The crew of Wellington aircraft #X 9633 were on bombing operations and did not return to base. Sgts D.E.G. Denier (RAAF), F.S. Ellis (RAF), J.T. Farmer (RAF), G. Lickley (RAF), and A. Yoxall (RAF) were also killed. Sergeant Wireless Operator Air Gunner Quinlan is buried in the Communal Cemetery at Thorembais-St. Trond, Brabant, Belgium.

Harvard aircraft #FE 732 was either in a dive or a spin when it crashed seven miles north-west of the aerodrome at Dunnville. LAC P.P. Strickland were also killed. Pilot Officer Pilot Quinn is buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto, Ontario.

Lancaster aircraft #KB 728 was shot down in the sea during a night operation, an attack against Sterkrade, Germany. F/O D. Morrison, A.F. Hupman, P/O C.S. Johnston, and three RAF members of the crew were also killed. This was the 29th operation for this crew. Pilot Officer Bomb Aimer Quinn is buried in the Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery, Nijmegen, Holland.

Two of the crew, not Canadians, missing presumed killed. Warrant Officer Class II Air Gunner Quinn was buried in the Military Cemetery at Dusseldorf, exhumed, and reburied in the Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Kleve, Germany.

QUINN, STANLEY HEBER SGT R99393 – armourer. From River Hebert, Nova Scotia. Died Jun 15/45 age 32. #1 R.C. Died of natural causes while in the RMB Hospital, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Sergeant Quinn is buried in Ragged Reef Cemetery, Joggins, Nova Scotia.

Two Mosquito aircraft were in a mid-air collision before they crashed near Market Wighton, Yorkshire. P/O Quinn and the navigator, not Canadian were both killed in aircraft #HJ 713. Two airmen, not Canadians, were killed in the second aircraft. Pilot Officer Pilot Quinn is buried in the Stonefall Cemetery, Wetherby Road, Harrogate, Yorkshire, England.

Lancaster aircraft #ME 865 crashed at Speck, Germany during a night trip to Bochum, Germany. F/Os G.T. Weiss, W.F. Moran, P/Os A.N. Gould, W.J. Commins, J.L. Gallant, and two of the crew, not Canadians, were also killed. This crew had nearly completed their first tour when they were killed. Flying Officer Bomb Aimer Quirt was buried in the Hoesten Cemetery, Germany, exhumed, and reburied in the War Cemetery at Rheinberg, Germany.
