The badge refers to the squadron ‘Ghost’, a designation earned through many hours of night bombing operations, and also the death and destruction which it carried to the enemy.

Formed as an All-Weather (Fighter) unit at Uplands (Ot­tawa), Ontario on 21 June 1954, the squadron flew CF-100 aircraft on North American air defence until disbanded on 1 June 1961.

Brief Chronology: Formed at Uplands, Ont., 21 Jun 54. Disbanded, 1 Jun 61.
